Update - Strategic Planning Progress

Hello, Ars Moriendi Services Family,

Earlier this year, we were fortunate enough to receive a spot in the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region's Strategic Planning cohort for local non-profits. This program is led by an awesome group of incredible minds from The Spark Mill. Alongside 4 other non-profits, we meet monthly to create a dynamic strategic plan that will ensure a firm foundation and impactful, clear path forward for AMS, allowing us to carry out our mission and vision for years to come. These sessions have re-energized and focused our passion towards equipping our region with the resources to die well, with dignity and comfort.

Last month we were tasked with putting together questions for our stakeholders to answer about who we are as an organization. We were thrilled with getting fruitful responses from a variety of our supporters (clinicians, volunteers, community members, and other non-profit leaders). This month, we worked together with our facilitator to identify themes from the responses. We walked away with 4 clear themes that emerged from our data and identified what our stakeholders believe to be exceedingly important.

1) Spreading awareness of Ars Moriendi’s Story

Getting more support through more visibility of our organization through storytelling whether it is volunteer support, financial, and foundational (board).

2) Building the organizational foundation and structure for longevity

Stakeholders want Ars Moriendi to solidify its foundation through fundraising, board support, and administrative structure while cautioning burnout with the current capacity.

3) Prioritizing the enrichment of wrap around services and resources alongside the development of a Hospice House

Many stakeholders urged Ars Moriendi to continue and enhance planned services as a priority in addition to getting a Hospice House up and running.

4) Developing a comfortable home that supports people at end of life and their loved ones

Creating a space where people at the end of life will have the environment they want to feel at home throughout the final path of their life’s journey.

WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! After reading the themes above, what do you think is missing? Are there other areas in which you believe we should be concentrating our efforts?

We value you, your time and your thoughts so much.

As we move into what we anticipate will be our biggest year of growth yet, we ask that you strongly consider your dedication to AMS and how we can best partner with you. Do you have some time to volunteer? Do you have connections you can make for us? Would you be willing to host us in your home for a Friendraiser/Fundraiser? Would you consider us for regular charitable giving?

Please feel free to email us at admin@amshome.org with questions, concerns or comments to any and all of the above. We look forward to hearing from you!

Kindest regards,

Marion, Rachel, Sara and Jennifer
